Grover Beach City Councilwoman and former mayor Debbie Peterson closed Tuesday nights council meeting by announcing that she would be stepping down after the meeting was adjourned. Peterson accused the remaining council members of corruption in matters dealing with the South San Luis Obispo County Sanitation District and the city’s cannabis businesses. Her resignation letter read in part, “I cannot betray the trust of those who elected me by looking the other way to avoid rocking the boat,”. City Attorney David Hale said the city has not been provided with any evidence to back up the claims.
