A Santa Maria neighborhood is still reeling following an armed home invasion over the weekend. Police received a 9-1-1 call from a homeowner in the are of Western Avenue and Frank Lane just after 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Three men had broken into the home armed with a rifle and knives. One of the suspects held the father at gunpoint demanding valuables. An 11-year-old heard the commotion, went to his parent’s room and tackled the gunman. A fight between the suspects, mom and dad and the 11-year-old’s teen brother ended with one of the suspects being held until police arrived. Officers also apprehended the other two suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
