Several Bridges On Central Coast Classified Structurally Deficient

A recent report by the American Road and Transportation Builders has named 47,000 bridges nationwide as structurally deficient and 15 of them are here on the Central Coast. The only bridge in San Luis Obispo County to fit that definition is in Paso Robles, on 24th Street over the train tracks. According to KSBY, the report names 14 other bridges throughout Santa Barbara County. None are newer than 1974, and the oldest was built in 1907. Caltrans officials say crews inspect all bridges in both counties every two years, adding that Central Coast residents should feel safe traveling on or under these structures.
