First responders from Cal Fire, Pismo Beach Lifeguards, California Highway Patrol, Harbor Patrol, and the U.S. Coast Guard gathered in and near the water in Pismo Beach over the weekend. A witness reported a swimmer in distress at around 4:45. After about a half an hour of searching, the rescue operating was called off. Pismo Beach Police officials say no one was reported missing. Rescuers believe the swimmer in distress was simply a seal.
