Cal Fire San Luis Obispo added 14 new firefighters to its ranks yesterday. The new firefighters are courtesy of Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive order that added nearly 400 firefighters across California. Over the next couple weeks, CAL FIRE plans to add another 14 in the county. The positions are seasonal, meaning that once the danger of wildfires has diminished, the positions will be phased out. Until then, the extra firefighters will help make fighting fires safe and more effective.
