The man who recovered San Luis Obispo Police Chief Deanna Cantrel’s gun from a restaurant restroom will not face charges. The D.A.’s Office made the announcement over the weekend. In a press release, Dan Dow said, while there was enough evidence to support a misdemeanor charge of failing to return lost property. It would not be in the interest of justice to charge Skeeter Mangan with a crime. The weapon was returned to a Sheriff’s substation in Los Osos the day after it was reported missing.
