Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, who last week had declared his sobriety, was arrested on drunk driving charges after getting pulled over by police near the Las Vegas Strip. He was taken into custody at 11:15 p.m. Sunday. Neil was released Monday after posting $2,000 bail. The arrest was not Neil’s first drunk driving case. In 1984, he crashed a sports car head-on into another car in Redondo Beach, California, killing his passenger Nicholas Dingley, the 24-year-old drummer for the band Hanoi Rocks who was on tour with Motley Crue at the time. Neil wasn’t injured. He later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and drunk driving, served 20 days in jail, and agreed to pay $2.5 million in restitution to victims. Neil also has had misdemeanor battery charges dismissed at least twice in California and Nevada after performing community service. One stemmed from an accusation that he roughed up a prostitute in 2003 at the Moonlight Bunny Ranch brothel in northern Nevada. Neil is due September 27 in Las Vegas Justice Court.

Now Neil, being the rockstar and celebrity that he is, will probably get off easier than this particular lady.

Brett Oswald had been outside his patrol car and waiting for a tow truck for an abandoned vehicle that had been reported just before 6 p.m. when a vehicle struck him. Kalee Weisenberg, age 22 from Atascadero, was driving northbound on South River Road near Spanish Camp Road. She turned a corner at high speed and lost control. Kalee hit Oswald’s patrol car, sending it forward to where it hit him. Other details, such as whether Weisenberg was intoxicated, are not yet being disclosed. Weisenberg was booked into County Jail at 2:50 a.m. Monday after being released from Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton, where she was treated for minor injuries. She was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and driving with a suspended license. As of late Monday, she remained there in lieu of $56,500 bail. But according to court records, she was arrested on Jan. 13 on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and failed to appear twice in court, according to the county District Attorney’s Office.
