Cities up and down the Central Coast are trying figure out if area voters would support a half-cent sales tax increase. A recent survey in Grover Beach showed that many residents would support an increase for more neighborhood police patrols, crime watch, and traffic enforcement. But some feel the money could be better spent elsewhere. According to KSBY, city leaders in Atascadero, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo are also considering sales tax increases. Any potential tax measure would have to be approved by voters before it could take effect.
