Cuesta College Student Dies Due To Suspected Bacterial Meningitis

San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department officials have reported that a Cuesta College student with ties to Cal Poly has died from what is thought to be bacterial meningitis. Health officials say people who may have had contact with the unnamed student are receiving preventative antibiotics. Symptoms of bacterial meningitis include sudden fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion and increased sensitivity to light. Officials say early treatment is critical in keeping the infection from becoming deadly.
