Graduation After 75 Years Wait

A number of high schools on the Central Coast have held their graduation ceremonies this week. One graduate from Arroyo Grande High School was a stand-out yesterday. That’s because he spent his high school years in an internment camp. In 1942 Haruo Hayashi was a sophomore at Arroyo Grande High School. His family was forced into an internment camp in Arizona, that meant not graduating from high school. 75 years later, at the age of 93, Haruo Hayashi finally received his diploma from Arroyo Grande High, alongside his grandson.
