Caltrans officials announced yesterday that Highway 1 between Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide in Big Sur will remain closed until further notice due to “significant slide activity” in both areas. Crews inspected the area and found a number of potentially unstable perched boulders had been working their way down the mountain. Caltrans crews will return to assess the road later today.
