Jury selection got underway yesterday in the murder trial of a man accused of murdering his mother a year ago. Prosecutors believe 26-year-old Levente Lazar stabbed his mother, 64-year-old Athena Valentiny, in her Grover Beach home for financial gain. Lazar has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. He’s facing the possibility of life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
