Rideshare Operators Continue To Drive

A big win for ride sharing companies in California, with the passage of Proposition 22. ABC’s Cheri Preston reports that earlier this year…California passed something called AB2, which essentially forced companies like Uber, Lyft, Instacart, and Door Dash to make their employees actually employees instead of independent contract workers not eligible for higher pay, overtime, and health insurance benefits. Since then, those companies have been fighting it, and they spent $200 million trying to let voters make them exempt. The fight worked. California passed Prop 22….presumably halting a threat by Uber and Lyft to pull out of the state if they’d lost. It’s seen as a defeat for labor unions.
