Supreme Court Hears DACA Arguments

The US Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case challenging President Trump’s controversial decision to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals – or DACA. Trump has been attempting to end the program for more than 2 years. Now the question in front of the Justices, is that decision lawful? Individual recipients, civil rights groups and universities have all challenged the Trump administration’s plans and they did win in the lower courts, handing so-called dreamers a small victory, but now it’s at the highest courts and the outcome could determine if these dreamers can continue to live and work legally in the US or if they are subject to removal. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra says California will lead arguments before the Supreme Court in defense of DACA. He says 1 in 4 dreamers in the country lives in California.
