Suspect Identified In Two Cold Murder Cases

A suspect has been identified in two 41-year-old murder cases. During yesterday’s press conference, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson announced, DNA evidence led investigators to Arthur Rudy Martinez as the person responsible for the deaths of and sexual assaults of two Atascadero women in the late 70s. Martinez, who is now deceased, had done time for rape and attempted murder prior to the deaths of Jane Antunez and Patricia Dwyer. Cold Case Investigators say, he fled to Spokane where he was arrested for a series of rapes and robberies. He escaped prison, spending the next 20 years in the Fresno area. He eventually turned himself into Washington authorities.
