The legendary Tom Petty has passed away at age 66.

We’ve been reeling here at KZOZ for the past couple of days as I’m sure you have.

Yesterday is was reported, first by TMZ, that Tom Petty was found in full cardiac arrest, unconscious and not breathing at his home in Malibu, Ca on Sunday night. He was taken to the hospital and put on life support. Reportedly, attempts to revive him failed and the decision to pull life support was made.

Late last night the official confirmation came from Petty’s long time manager Tony Dimitriades via Petty’s social medias:

We take solace in knowing that Mr Petty was at peace and surrounded by loved ones as he passed away last night.

This all comes on the heels of a 40th anniversary tour with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and a pinnacle run of three consecutive nights of performances at the Hollywood Bowl last week celebrating the band and their music that spanned so many decades. This video is from their final show on September 25th with the show closer and Tom Petty’s final moments on stage.

Today, we remember a man who gave so much of his life to us in his music. Through his music, he is ageless. He is timeless. He is legend. We will never forget what he gave to us all.
