Warmer weather is on the horizon, kids are out of school for summer break, and San Luis Obispo County pools are closed. The pandemic closed community pools more than a year ago. The County Board of Supervisors was forced to cut the budget for the parks and rec department, leaving the department without a budget for lifeguards at county pools. According to KSBY, officials are hopeful funding can be restored, lifeguards can be hired, and a few pools be reopened by the end of July. If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard, Contact Michele Venturini at 805-781-4385.
