Super Bloom Causes Havouc In So. Cal.

Recent rains have given us a “Super Bloom” of wildflowers from San Luis Obispo County To parts of Southern California. The city of Lake Elsinore is being overwhelmed by the power of the poppies. About 150,000 people flocked over the weekend to see rain-fed flaming orange fields of delicate poppies blanketing the hillsides. Traffic jams caused the city to close access to one prime viewing spot that was reopened yesterday. Super blooms occur about once a decade after wet winters with warm temperatures that stay above freezing. This year marks the second Super bloom in two years.
