A Santa Maria man was arrested over the weekend after a Nipomo avocado farmer reported multiple thefts from his property. The farm manager set up a security camera following weeks of suspected trespassing and theft. On Sunday, 37-year-old Christian Medrano was spotted trespassing and stealing. The manager called the sheriff’s office. Whe deputies arrived, they spotted Medrano. He turned his car around and fled back onto the farm. He was eventually taken into custody. Deputies recovered more than 700 avocados. Medrano could be facing a charge of grand theft.
