Lompoc City officials put the finishing touches on their city’s budget. Yesterday, The City Council approved a budget that includes 3 million dollars in cuts and pink slips for a number of city staff. Under the new budget, the City will continue to freeze positions at the police department, cutting $700,000 of overtime for the fire department, losing a battalion chief and cutting parts of city staff like the Planning Department and Code Enforcement. A plan to put a One percent tax increase on the November ballot is still in the works.
