Quick action by firefighters kept a brush fire from getting out of hand over the weekend. Paso Robles firefighters were called out to the riverbed near North River Road Saturday evening at around 5. North River Road between Union Road and River Oaks was closed for several hours while more than 62 firefighters battled the wind-whipped fire flames. Fire officials say it was a tough fire to fight due to the dense vegetation. The flames scorched more than 11.5 acres before fire crews had it under control. An investigation into the cause is underway.
