Attempted Bank Robbery

Santa Maria Police say a man was arrested yesterday after attempting to rob a bank on South Broadway. Officers were called out to the Chase Bank Branch at around 11:44 to a robbery in progress. Investigators say 25-year-old Juan Angel Salinas Pena walked into the bank and told a teller he had a gun and demanded money. He fled without any cash, making it to the parking lot when police arrived. Pena is currently in Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of a parole violation and attempted bank robbery.
