A new permanent lifeguard tower is headed to the Pismo Beach State Park. California State Parks officials are in the process of approving a project that will be built on top of an existing restroom near the Grand Avenue entrance of the Oceano Dunes. There are currently no permanent lifeguard towers in that area of the beach. The project is in the state Department of Finance approval stage. Construction could begin in early 2021 and be completed by the summer of that year.
