An Atascadero woman has been arrested on suspicion of stealing close to a million dollars from her employer. An investigation began in July after the owner of a construction company in Creston reported that his bookkeeper had embezzled about 47,000 dollars. Sheriff’s investigators believe 41-year-old Joy Wilde had altered a check made out to a vendor and put the money into her own account. According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, she had deposited 63 company checks over the past three years totaling 957,000 dollars. Wilde makes her first court appearance this morning.
