New Statewide Smoking Ban

There’s a new no-smoking law for California. The legislation signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom takes effect next year – banning smoking at California state parks and beaches, Violators will face a fine of up to $25. The ban covers traditional cigarettes, cigars, and pipes, as well as electronic cigarettes. It also prohibits the disposal of cigar and cigarette waste at parks and beaches. The proposal had been previously vetoed several times by former governors. California has roughly 280 state parks and 340 miles of coastline.
