Firefighters Getting Upper Hand On Avila Fire

Firefighters battling the Avila Fire are starting to get the upper hand. Cal Fire officials say the flames are now 50 percent contained. Yesterday, crews continued to attack the fire on the ground and from the air. The main job was to set a solid perimeter. The fire scorched 400 acres, forced the evacuation of several homes and closed the 101 for a time. Cal Fire reported last night that the forward spread of the fire had been stopped. No homes were lost and no injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
