SLO County Receives 14 Million Dollars To Fund Homeless Shelter

San Luis Obispo County will receive 14 million dollars to turn a Paso Robles motel into a homeless shelter. Governor Gavin Newsom made the announcement last Friday. Three organizations, the Housing Authority of San Luis Obispo, Peoples’ Self-Help Housing, and El Camino Homeless Organization will now be able to convert the Motel 6 on Black Oak Drive into an emergency homeless shelter and low-income housing facility. According to the Tribune, the funding comes from the state’s Homekey program.
