Recent rains served as a reminder to Oceano residents that something needs to be done at the intersection of Highway 1 and 13th street. That’s where rainwater collects, forcing Caltrans to close that section of Highway 1. There is good news. A recent project intended to improve drainage in the area has helped a bit, but officials say a major fix won’t happen until summer. They add that roughly 3 million dollars in USDA funding needed could be held up if USDA employees are furloughed by another government shutdown.
