April Is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

You may or may not know, April is Distracted Driving Awareness month. The San Luis Obispo Police Department is cracking down on drivers using their cell phones. Department officials say officers issued 52 citations this past Tuesday alone. Under state law, it is illegal t use a cell phone while holding it in your hand. First-time offenders can expect a fine of at least 162 dollars. A second offense will cost you at least 285 dollars. According to KSBY, The San Luis Obispo Police Department issued more than 1,140 citations to drivers using their cell phones.
