A Cal Poly student raised $32,000 for homeless programs last week after appearing on an online live video streaming service. Maya Higa was hoping to raise about 1,000 dollars when she appeared on Twitch.TV to talk about her time working at the 5Cities Homeless Coalition’s Warming Center as a celebration of her 21st birthday. Three hours after her appearance, she had raised 20,000 dollars. That number kept climbing until it reached 32,000 dollars. The money raised will go toward funding programs and services for families and individuals who are homeless in the southern San Luis Obispo County area.
