Water and sewer rates in San Luis Obispo are going to be higher in the next few weeks. The San Luis Obispo City Council voted to raise the rates for sewer and water services by 5.5 percent. That means the average bill for a single-family home would be as high as 60 dollars. Officials say the rate hike will be used to pay for infrastructure improvements, as well as maintenance and operational costs. Another hike could be on the way next year.
