Holiday Weekend DUI Number Up From Last Year

The numbers are in for the CHP’s Maximum Enforcement Period. According to The CHP, more than 20 deaths and 1200 DUI arrests were reported on California Highways over the long Fourth of July weekend. Three deaths were reported in the CHP Coastal Division that spans from Monterey to Ventura counties. No fatal crashes were reported in either San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara counties. The number of DUI arrests statewide were up significantly from last year when officers arrested 389 people for DUI.
