Suspected Shooter Leads Law Enforcement On High Speed Pursuit

A man suspected of shooting a Merced County Sheriff’s Deputy was taken into custody yesterday, but not before leading officers on a high-speed chase through Paso Robles. Authorities say 51-year-old Guadalupe Herrera-Lopez was wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident, carjacking and the attempted murder of a peace officer in Dos Palos. He was spotted in Paso Robles at around 11 a.m… Paso P.D. officers say the pursuit started when they tried to make a traffic stop. Herrera-Lopez led them east on Highway 46 then the 41 at speeds up to 120 miles an hour. A spike strip brought the chase to an end near Kettleman City.
