An Atascadero girl is lucky to be alive this morning after being hit by a truck while crossing the street yesterday. Police say the girl was in the crosswalk at the intersection of El Camino Real and East Mall when a Dodge truck failed to stop for her. The girl suffered moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Drugs or alcohol did not play a part in the accident, but excessive speed may have been a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
