Measure ‘U’ Funding Helps Open Library On Sundays

In November of 2018, Santa maria voters passed Measure U. It extended and enhanced the general-purpose sales tax to a one-cent rate. That has helped fund a number of City services such as public safety, youth services and quality of life. Even the Santa Maria Public Library has seen benefits. The City Library will soon be open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m… Officials plan to start the new open hours on January 5th. The City of Santa Maria said the change in hours was determined using current visitor and customer feedback. Officials say roughly 1,000 residents use the library daily.
