Paso Robles Schools Facing Tough Choices

Paso Robles school officials are facing tough choices in the face of declining enrollment, attendance, and a 2.3 million dollar budget gap. In a meeting filled with students, teachers, and parents, the board of trustees discussed their options. Some of those options include laying off teachers, cutting classes and potentially closing an elementary campus. According to KSBY, trustees voted to lay off 13 classified staff members, including an occupational therapist, four intervention specialists, a groundskeeper, and a custodian. They also discussed cutting some classes at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
