SLO County Air Pollution Control District and the SLO County Public Health Department have issued an air quality alert. Officials say, while several wildfires are currently burning throughout the state, smoke from Monterey County’s River Fire is having the biggest impact on Central Coast air quality. They added that your cloth mask will not protect you from inhaling wildfire smoke. N95s masks offer the best protection in smokey conditions, but there’s currently a shortage. No word on how long the air quality alert will be in effect.
