A rally aimed at bringing awareness to the COVID-19 outbreak at the California Men’s Colony happened over the weekend. It started Saturday morning at Santa Rosa Park in San Luis Obispo. Rally members claim inmates are experiencing negligence as COVID-19 numbers rise rapidly. According to a statement, CMC officials say the prison has worked proactively and tirelessly to protect the health and safety of CMC’s staff and incarcerated population. Currently, CMC has identified 244 total cases of COVID-19 within its inmate population of more than 3,400.
