COVID-19 Impacting Finances Countywide

The COVID-19 pandemic has had financial impacts on every city on the Central Coast. Nearly every city is facing budget deficits in the coming fiscal year. Each one will try to close their budget gaps through some form of tax increase. According to the Tribune, the cities of Atascadero, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo are all asking voters to approve 1-cent sales tax measures. Some residents feel uneasy about any new taxes unless they can be assured the money would be spent wisely and not a permanent tax. Others feel it would be a small price to pay for adequate social services.
