Governor Plans To Halt Executions County D.A. Disagrees

California governor Gavin Newsom plans to sign an executive order today placing a moratorium on executions. He says the order won’t alter any convictions or allow any condemned inmate a chance at an early release. San Luis Obispo County D.A. Dan Dow took to Facebook yesterday to criticize the Governor’s decision saying, Governor Newsom is unilaterally refusing to enforce the will of the people of California. There are currently 737 inmates on California’s death row, including three from San Luis Obispo County.
