Protesters across the country, and around the world demanded justice in the death of George Floyd. Race Matters SLO County organized a protest at Mitchell Park yesterday morning to stand in solidarity with the African American community. In Santa Maria, crowds were also seen blocking streets near S. Broadway outside of City Hall at around 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Protesters peacefully made their way toward Main St. holding signs and chanting for justice. According to KEYT, a rowdier group of protesters gathered hours later at the intersection of Cook and Broadway, lighting fireworks and eventually setting a small fire. No arrests were made.
