The Santa Maria Police Department has released new dash-cam footage of an officer-involved shooting. The shooting happened on June 21st following reports of a man with a gun outside of Boomers near North Preisker Lane. The video shows an officer ordering 32-year-old Domingo Perez Montejo to get down on the ground, sit down, or drop the gun more than 20 times in both English and Spanish. Until Montejo pulls a gun from his waistband and is shot. He survived the incident. The gun was fake. According to KSBY, the department released the video to help explain their actions and be “more transparent.” An investigation is ongoing.
