Traffic Stop Leads To Felon Arrest

Atascadero Police say a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a convicted felon with a gun. It started when an officer spotted a speeding car on El Camino Real yesterday morning. The 20-year-old driver from Bakersfield told the officer the car belonged to him, but it wasn’t in his name, and he didn’t have any required paperwork. When the officer asked if the paperwork was in the glove box, the driver admitted that a handgun was inside. He also mentioned that he was recently released from jail on a felony charge. After a brief struggle, he was booked into County Jail.
